Welcome to my personal blog. My name is Kathy and I work as an IT support specialist in San Jose. I am just 5.2" and my weight was 190 pounds on 1st Jan 2009. That was my third new year resolution and my previous two new year resolutions which I took in 2007 and 2008 ended up in no big results. Though I have not lost any weight, I would not call them as failure. Rather I would call them as the initial stages of success.
I did not achieve my goals in 2007 and 2008. I felt bad during 2008 christmas season for not achieving my goals in the past two years. On new year eve, i spent 2 hours thinking about what went wrong during the past two years and why I am not able to lose any weight. I started writing down the mistakes which I did in the past and kept it in a place where I can see it daily so that I don't repeat it.
I used to read a lot of weight loss websites and used to spend a lot of time online. Based upon what I read in the past 2 years, I started recollecting the things which worked for most people. I have noted down these points as well so that I can start with the right ones immediately rather than going for trial and error methods.

There are three ways to lose weight. You can lose weight by losing your unwanted fat or by losing water weight or by losing muscle mass. I have heard many fitness experts saying that a personalized diet plan is a must to lose fat and to avoid losing muscle mass or water weight.
If you lose your water weight, you will regain your weight back in few weeks. If you lose your muscle mass, you will lose your body strength and you will become weak. Hence the healthy way to lose weight is by losing unwanted fat in your body.

Apart from getting the custom diet plan, I used to discuss in the members community to get my doubts cleared. The tracking tools and the diet charts they provided were also very useful.
I started following the diet plan strictly and also did exercises for 20 to 30 minutes everyday. In the beginning, it was little difficult to stick with the schedule. After few weeks, I never missed even a single workout session which I planned for the week. Usually I did the exercises in the morning and avoided taking food outside.
By the end of two months I was able to lose 3 pounds. Though it is not much, it was really motivating and I started to feel being successful. My hubby helped me a lot to stay focused.. He used to motivate me often and sometimes, he used to do exercises along with me.
For the first 4 months, I did nothing more than strictly following the diet plan and doing the workout routines. At the end of four months, I was able to lose 9 pounds successfully.
During the 5th month, I continued the same diet and exercise routines but I have not lost much during the month. I just lost 1 pounds more for the whole of the 5th month. I made some minor changes in my diet and workout after consulting with Chris Powell through Reshape the Nation and added a little bit of detox as well.
Basically, these detox foods contains more fruits and vegetables. They clean the intestine and hence you will feel more thinner and energetic. After following the detox diet with my normal diet plan, I started losing more weight and at the end of 7th month I was able to lose 22 pounds. I was asked to follow the detox diet one or two days in a week and I was asked to discontinue it after two months.
Hence I switched back completely to my normal diet plan and also invested on an ab belt to lose my belly fat which doesn't seem to go off at all.

I don't follow the diet now but I make sure that I am not eating anything which will make me bulky. As of January 01, 2010 I weighted 142 pounds. Yeppeee......

During my weight loss journey, I came across many websites which were offering detox diet pills for free. On further research, i came to know that they are scamming people by asking them to try it for free and later charging a huge bill for the same. They are getting the credit card information of the buyers saying that they need to pay a small fee for shipping and handling. Later, they are sending those diet pills each and every month and they also deduct a huge amount from the customer's credit card without any further notice.
Even FTC had recently warned them and asked people to stay away from these free trial scams.
Detox diets are also little dangerous. They can rip off your body and hence you need to consult your physician before starting with a detox program. This is the reason why I was asked to stop following detox diet in just two month. Moreover, I was taking the detox plan only for one or two days in a week. Hence you need to be careful while taking detox diets.
